Benidorm Guide: Theme Parks
Not far from Benidorms connurbation, nestled at the foot of the mountain and with a spectacular view of the coast and Benidorm itself, is one of the Europes major theme parks, Terra Mítica.
Some might be argue that going to Terra Mítica is an educational experience because it is 'themed' on the civilizations of the ancient world and mythology.
And one way or another, with more than thirty hair raising rides, THAT is exactly what it turns out to be!
For the dare devils who visit, and in no particular order, there is:-
Titanide , a rollercoaster which reaches speeds of upto 100 km/hr between vertical and horizontal whilst spinning a full 360 degrees.
This is a high-speed ride has so many dives, twists and turns that they recommend you take off your shoes before getting on.
We recommend you hold on to your hat!
Then there is Minotaurs Labyrinth , a ride that delves deep into a fiery underworld where you undergo Theseus's challenges.
Armed only with a laser gun to defend yourself from the fearful underworld fauna which attack from every shadow you must journey through the dark labyrinth
At the end, the most skillful, those with a high score, are rewarded with the possibilty of destroying the Minotaur.
Fresh from the fires of the underworld you might be ready for a bit of a cool off. Falls of the Nile is just the thing .
Seated in a 'sarcophagus' (an Egyptian box-like funeral receptacle) you are plunged into the raging torrents of the Nile.
If that does not make you wet your pants your pants will surely get wet from the splash down.
Other rides to look forward to (or fear) are Magnus Colossus, Synkope, Flight of the Phoenix and many others. But if none of these rides or others such as the watery The Fury of Triton does not rock your boat then you will be relieved to know there are other options. At various locations within the park lots of entertaining family shows are continually being staged throughout the day and into the evening.
Aquatic fun for all the family, Aqualandia Water Park is situated in central Benidorm and is Spains first water leisure park.
Aqualandia is a complex of interlacing lagoons, water slides, rock pools and waterfalls. Said in one sentence like that however does not do justice to the fun to be had when you connect water, sun, slides, large rubber rings and other water equipment with children.
For the adventurous there are some dizzyingly high dive slides and for the not so, there are sun loungers, paddling pools, restaurants and picnic areas.
Aqualandia is monitored by life guards throughout and is safe for all the family.

Converseley perhaps you may use a trip to Mundomar to escape the heat of a summers afternoon.
Anyway, Mundomar is basically a marine zoo which allows you to get a close look at typical marine animals and some exotic birds.
Hang arround and you will be treated to a spectacle of synchronised dolphin ballet, an ever fresh and delightful attraction.
Terra Natura is a modern Zoo Immersion experience where the habitat is designed to maximise animal visitors interaction and minimise animal stress.
The zoo is designed to allow a visitors to get close up and personal to the exotic animals without the feeling of having a barrier between you.
Obviously there are barriers between you and the dangerous fauna eg tigers but where they are essential they are also discreet.
This park is divided into four themed areas: Pangea, America, Europe and Asia.
Throughout the day there are various impromtu events such as feeding times (do not miss Elephants or penguins) and Keepers on hand who will talk about and answer any questions about the animals
Also at specified times there are staged events such as falconary demonstrations featuring peregrine falcons, owls, hawks and other dirds of prey.
